What is Upcycling?

According to Wikipedia, Upcycling, also known as creative reuse, is the process of transforming by-products, waste materials, useless and/or unwanted products into new materials or products of better quality or for better environmental value. See the full article here. Whereas recycling breaks down material in order to remake it into lower value products, upcycling takes a low-value material to transform it, with minimal alteration, into a higher value product.

At Barret Street Upcyclers, we make it a point to use only items or material that has been discarded whenever possible. This allows us to keep material out of the landfill while creating unique, beautiful, and useful items.

Our Story:

Mining the Abandoned and Broken to Discover Beauty

Stuffed Shirt Fashions

You know that iconic button up shirt in the back of the closet which is never worn? It has a whimsical, upcycled life as your new favorite pillow, hat, belt, wine sleeve, baby bib or as a stylish face covering.

Susan only sources 100% cotton shirts - soft against your skin and breathable. If you spill, just throw it in the washer / dryer. As for the pocket on the pillow, it's a perfectly practical place for the remote or cell phone!

Recycled Tech Creations

A self-taught east coast transplant, Jeff is dedicated to using only obsolete/broken electronic components that would otherwise wind up in a landfill. He channels his inner MacGyver to make useful and beautiful objects, and does not foresee ever running out of raw materials.
